Founded by rock climbers, Gramicci has built clothing made for movement since 1982 – which means we know a thing or two about tech pants. This season, we’re celebrating the iconic G-Short with a Japanese-designed collection of shorts, trousers, and more. Here’s the long and short on Gramicci’s Spring/Summer 2024.

The G-Short Started It All

Although Gramicci is perhaps known best for belted trousers, Gramicci’s first-ever product was the G-Short: a gusseted, flexible twill short designed by climbers, for climbers. The shorts became a hit, gaining a global following and defining an era of outdoors style.

Today, the G-Short’s free-flowing design and integrated belt make for retro styling touches – but the Original Gramicci can still shake a leg. Grab the Pigment Dye G-Shorts for a tactile take, or rock the classic G-Shorts with an oversized Class 5 Tee and see where the longer days take you.

A Little Goes A Long Way

Fabric innovation is one thing – but sometimes, you just need more fabric. The success of the original G-Short quickly led to the Gramicci Pants: a trouser-length adaptation for colder climates and increased protection.

With both Gramicci Pants and G-Shorts out in the world, Gramicci became a household name in the ‘80s and ‘90s outdoor community: if you climbed, paddled, or hiked, you either knew of Gramicci or were currently wearing it. Over 40 years, the original 1982 G-Pant design lives on. Throw on some Gramicci Pants with a pair of Rope Sandals for an all-day ‘fit that moves as good as it looks.

New Fabrics, New Adventures

Hard-wearing cotton shorts are great for Yosemite’s rocks – but what about for its river? Over the years, adventure stories from Gramicci-wearing fans have inspired new takes on the classic G-Short recipe.

The Nylon Packable G-Short packs down smaller and dries out quicker, perfect for river rafters, backpack travelers, and climbers who know about that secret swimming hole. The Shell Canyon Short sports a 5” inseam and swaps twill for adaptable Active Shell material, providing an undeniably modern look that goes just about anywhere. And for the best of both worlds, try the Shell Packable Short, which arrives in limited-edition “crazy” colorways just for Spring/Summer.

Feel the Elevation

For those seeking an elevated take on vintage outdoors, the Ridge Short is Gramicci’s most trend-forward cotton short. Unisex and oversized with workwear-inspired pockets, they’re only a slouch if you’re talking about the silhouette. In the summer, shorts are always a cooler option - but the Ridge Shorts are a cut above.

The New Standard Arrives

Based on the iconic OG-107 – a military surplus trouser turned hiking staple – the Weather Fatigue Pant is Gramicci’s take on modern outdoors aesthetics. The Weather Fatigue combines iconic Gramicci features with timeless styling to produce a truly versatile pant: as the name implies, this silhouette is cut from Stretch Weather, a Gramicci-developed hybrid textile that resists the rain and moves as you do.

Designed in Japan, these loose fit, all-season fatigues have a look that complements any outfit. Our advice: throw on a Shell Bucket Hat and Gramicci x and wander Pocket Sweat Shirt to capture this spring’s oversized silhouette.
